Emirilyas Höyügü is located at the north-northwest of Afsin district, north of Kahramanmaras province. The mound is 5 m high and measures 70x80 m wide. (The mound covers an area of approximately 19640 square meters [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 316]). A road passes from the northeast of the mound to Aritas Village. There exists a group of plain simple ware with black rims identified by G.H. Brown during a survey in 1962. Bown dates this group to the Early Bronze Age. Emirilyas Höyügü dates to the Late Chalcolithic, the Early and Middle Bronze Ages [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 316]. Pottery from Emirilyas Höyügü is classified under four main groups. The first group is the red-orange coated ware with out-rolled rims. They are tempered with large stones; however the particle are sparsely distributed. Few samples are decorated with finger-impressions at the rims. This group is similar to the pottery found at Bozhöyük, Kartalkaya-Körali, Karasüleymanli, Hozan, Karaelbistan and Ortaören Höyük and dated from the Late Chalcolithic Age to the Early Bronze Age. The second group is the light brown plain simple ware which is dated to the Early-Middle Bronze Age. The third group is the so-called "Elazig-Malatya Painted Ware" that are mostly decorated with painted bands on cream-coating. [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 316].
