Geography and Environment: It is located in the Senirce Plain. It has suitable characteristics to be settled with an arable land in the surrounding territory.
History:
Research and Excavation: It has been truncated by the railway during the construction of the Isparta-Burdur railway. The intact vessels uncovered as a result of this damage attracted the attention of H.A. Ormerod who was conducting a survey in the region during the same period; and this resulted in a small excavation carried out in 1911 [Ormerod 1911-12:80]. The size of the excavation is unknown. Being one of the initial studies of the Anatolian archaeology; this research gave rise to a culture identified as Senirce Culture. Other surface collections were carried out by J. Mellaart; D.H. French and M. Özsait. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Stratigraphy: H.A. Ormerod reports the presence of two layers which underwent a fire. However; he does not provide any information about the architectural remains.
Small Finds: Pottery: Intact vessels and sherds of handmade; exteriorly and interiorly black-grey; red-brown washed and sometimes burnished wares were collected from the surface. The group of red ware is observed to lessen toward the upper levels [Özgüç 1943:footnote 5]. Three types of decoration are common such as groove; relief and incision decorations. Some of the groove decorations are filled in with a white material. Forms of spouted pitchers; with flat bottom; are common.
Remains:
Interpretation and Dating: This very restricted amount of finds identified as Senirce Culture should be evaluated within the culture of the Isparta Plain.
