Structural Properties and formation : The cave which is located 45 m above the river basin (280 m) extends as a branch of Sarikaya Magarasi developed as a ponor cave on the uvala basin which is at 620 m altitude. The cave continues parallel to the direction of the fault line. The entrance follows the bed direction (NE-SW); then continues in the other sections as subduction-direction- subduction -direction order. There are waterfalls and steepnesses at the crossing point of the sectors developing in the bed direction and bed dips. On the other hand The Sarikaya cave le connection developed based on the fault in SE-NW direction. There is a subsurface stream with a flow throughout summer and winter inside Aksu Cave; that has a ceiling in the range of 0.5-20 m; and a width of 0.5-18 m. This subsurface stream generated ponds 0.5-3 m in depth; and waterfalls up to 5 m high. In addition to that giant potholes up to 0.5-3 m deep were generated. The areas where the cave enlarges contains sand and pebble storages. The cave is rich in flowstone deposits. Large depression holes developed inside the last sections of the cave. Those halls have basins covered with blocks and debris. The cave does not deepen but stays suspended due to the stratigraphical position of the limestones. It is an active cave with a continuing development.
Research History: It was researched by the Geological Studies Department Chiefstancy of MTA General Directorate and published in 2002. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Findings: Bats live in small groups inside the half-active fossil halls located after the cave entrance. Additionally centipedes were observed in the pond and the subsurface stream.
