You can search for information on our databases over three main parts.

Search in All Databases (Archaeological+Cave)
You can use two different methods to search for information at this part:

1. You can perform a simple keyword search. The search will be performed in the whole TAY databases containing archaeological settlements and caves. You will reach all records, which contain the keyword.

2. If you wish to create a complex query using one or more variables (Settlement/Cave Type, Investigation Method, Area etc.), follow the link entitled ‘detailed search’ to our ‘Site/Cave Search Machine’.

Search in Archaeological Databases

You can use five different methods to search for information at this part:

1. You can perform a simple keyword search. The search will be performed in the whole TAY databases related to archaeological sites. You will reach all records in all ages, which contain the keyword.

2. If you wish to create a complex query using one or more variables (Settlement Type, Investigation Method, Area etc.), follow the link entitled ‘detailed search’ to our ‘Site Search Machine’.

3. Clicking on the provinces on a "Turkey Sensitive Map" will find you the relevant settlements.

4. If you wish to find a settlement/settlement group within a certain age (Paleolithic, Neolithic etc.), try to catch one of those bouncing prehistoric era vintage telephones!

5. There are two different methods that you can use to search for information in our 14C database:

a. If you wish to search the settlements with radiocarbon dates, you can find the list of the settlements 14C samples (if available) by typing your keyword in Settlement, Region, Province, District, Village fields in “14C Site Database”, and then you can reach the archaeological information of the settlement(s) by clicking on the settlement names on the list.

b. If you wish to create a query according to the lab number or material type, you can reach the radiocarbon analysis by using the fields in the “14C Sample Database”. You can use ">","<","..." signs for date searches. i.e.: ">5000" finds dates greater than 5000, "5000...8000" finds dates between 5000 and 8000.

NOTE: Your search involving the Byzantine buildings at Marmara Region in the inventories of TAY should be performed using the bouncing “Byzantine Mobile Phone” ONLY. The data on Byzantine buildings can not be accessed by using the general search window inside the “Search in All Databases” section and “Search in Archaeological Database" section.
