Location: The mound, which is named Hastane Höyük due to the Public Hospital built on it, is located in Kethüda Quarter in the center of Akhisar District of Manisa Province.
Geography and Environment: The area which was registered as archaeological site measures 120x110 cm. However, the later studies show that the mound is bigger than that on account of it enlarges towards the north and south. It was clarified that only the one-third of the mound (the area in which the hospital was built) was registered as archaeological site. Based on the recent studies, the mound measures 355 m in the northeast-southwest; 360 m in the east-west direction. It is approx. 10 m high from the plain [Akdeniz 2014, Akdeniz et al. 2014]. The mound is located in the area known as the ancient city of Thyateira [Akdeniz 2014:22].
Destruction Details: The west section of the registered parts of the mound has been severely damaged by the construction of the State Hospital, the revetment walls and the road construction. Today, the top of the mound are occupied by the buildings belonging to the old state hospital [Akdeniz 2013:435].
