Location: This site is 15 km North of Taşlıçay Suburb of Ağrı City. The pond is 2,240 m above the sea level on average and is located on the South-western Slope of Sinek Plateau. Yukarı Toklu Village is the nearest modern settlement to the pond which is 6 km South of the site [Belli 2011:205]. |
Geography and Environment: Sinek Plateau is one of the most important plateaus of Mount Ararat and being used for summer pasture by demi-nomad societies since early 2nd Millennium BC. Many cairns in close approximation belong to 3rd or 2nd Millennium BC and many are illicitly excavated [Belli 2011:205]. |
Destruction Details: The wall of the pond is completely destructed by the heavy machinery belonging to Ağrı Directorate of Rural Services. The stones of pond wall are piled up in close proximity [Belli 2011.205]. |
