Location: This site is composed of several artifact scatters: The DAVUTPASA artifact scatter northwest of Istanbul; east-northeast of Kemerburgaz; on the Davutpasa Stream terraces; the PASAALANI artifact scatter; northwest of Kemerburgaz; and the KOTAMENÇE SIRTI artifact scatter on the plain east of the stream and on the northern extensions of the Alibeyköy Dam. Because we lack detailed reports on each artifact scatter; we have collectively referred to them as the Kemerburgaz Yöresi regional sites.
Geography and Environment: The Davutpasa Stream; which springs from the Belgrade Forest west of the city of Istanbul; seasonally flows by the town of Kemerburgaz before it empties into the Golden Horn. Surface surveys have been conducted in the upper portions of this stream.
