Geography and Environment: The Karlik Creek which gathers the waters of the Karlik Basin situated to south of the Uluyayla Basin sinks into an inaccessible ponor. But this creek enters into the Karlik Sinkhole; continuing to flow toward the west during flooding times. It is obvious that it is candidate to become a fossil cave. It is located at the bottom of a 50 m deep depression with very steep sides. The layers and masses of ice at the deeper parts of the depression and near the entrance do not melt even in May. |
