It is situated to the east of the Çataksu Stream, 3 km north of the Mirzaoglu Village, 16 km northeast of Çayirli in Erzincan. It is 40 m high above the plain level. It contains a stepped water tunnel carved into the bedrock. The water tunnel was said to consist of 70 to 80 steps but only 20 steps were identifiable. These rock steps are 2 m long and 40 cm wide with a height of 20 cm. To the immediate west of the stepped water tunnel is a cistern with a diameter of 1.60 cm built with powdered bricks in a later period. The ceramics collected from the surface bear characteristics of the Iron Age, and mainly the Middle Age. |
