There are many kurgans, composed of locally supplied stones, within the same plan, most of them being destroyed, lying on a rocky slope which declines towards the Kura River, 1 km east of Kurtkale on the Georgia border, 35 km north of the Çildir District in Ardahan. Each have a east-west oriented rectangular grave chamber, enclosed by a circular course of stones. It is observed that the side walls were built longer, narrowing from bottom to up and the grave chamber was surmounted with flat stones. Absence of any dromos suggests that the burial was performed from the top, and then the grave chamber was closed by large flagstones, and covered with rubble stones. Kurgans, in general, measure 1.70x3.70x1.60 and 1.70x3.50x2 m in dimensions. There usually have a single course of circular stones varying from 7 to 11 m in width. It appears that some of the kurgans were built in accordance with the topography of the land, and some have a certain space between them in flat sections while some were built adjacent to each other.
