It is situated inside the village at the 2nd km on the right side of the Kars-Kagizman motorway in the Kötek Village of Kagizman District in Kars. The fortress is 100 m high above the ground level. The village and the fortress were named after the Kötek Brook that runs to the west of the fortress. There are traces of buildings at various locations of the hill. The buildings can be dated to Middle Age and mortar was used in their wall construction. The fortress has been destroyed both by illicit diggings and the trenches dug for military purposes. Abundant number of Iron Age and Middle Age sherds was found on the ground of the fortress and inside the pits. |
