It is situated 3 km west of the Gaziler Village, 27 km far from the Tuzla District in Igdir. At present it has been mostly demolished due to illicit diggings and natural erosion. Based on the analysis on the remaining fortification walls, it bears characteristics of the Medieval Age. The fortress commands the road running alongside the Gaziler Brook, frequently used during the Ottoman Period. The other important fortress on this route is the Köroglu Fortress. Most of the survey finds belong to Medieval Age, with restricted number of Iron Age sherds. |
