It is a small Urartian fortress, 60-65 m west of a set wall, southwest of Kesisgöl, 21 km west of the Dogubeyazit District in Agri. It rests on a low rock. It bears characteristics of a small outpost, and it appears that it served for operation, maintenance and repair works of the dam as well as security of the dam. Although the walls have been entirely destroyed, the foundations of the walls are still traceable on the rocks. Dressed stones and adobe were used for the construction of fortifications. The fortress has been heavily destroyed. Many sherds were found among ruins, and they were dated to the 7th century BC. |
