Some excursions and documentation were made in the vicinity of Vaysal and Karapinar during the survey performed under the direction of M. Özdogan in 1987 [Özdogan 1989:576]. Although presence of the Karapinar Dolmen (Kapaklisi), 3 km north of the Vaysal Village and west of the road to the Karapinar Farm was already known, it could not be visited as it was located within the military zone during the surveys of M. Özdogan in 1990. It was recorded under no. A 4/35 in the publication. S.A. Kansu also reports a large size dolmen within the Karapinar Boscage. It was surveyed again in 2006 by E. Beksaç and its two room form with the dromos was identified. The main direction of the dolmen is the common direction of the Thracian dolmens which is south. The upper tumulus deposit containing pretty large size cobble stone tempering was well preserved and its positioning is well enough to cover most of the core structure of bedrock [Beksaç 2008:71].
