It is a fortress discovered during the Survey on "the Turkish Period Fortresses" conducted in Thrace by I.H. Kurtulus in 1995 [Kurtulus 1997:39, pic. 17]. It is 5 km far from the Evciler Village in the woodlands on the Karakoçan Hill at Kale Bayiri Mevkii to the south of the Mount Mahya, the highest section of the Yildiz Mountains. It commands the wide plain to the south of the hill. It was built in accordance with the topography of the land around a natural rocky block, with multiple corners in an elliptical plan. It was built using the local natural rocky blocks. No binding material was used. It has two entrances, one piercing the southern wall, accessed through a steep woodland while the other is from the east and better preserved. The thickness of the fortification wall is 2.20 m, and the height is 1 m on the interior, and 2 m on the exterior wall. It is reported that most of the Thracian fortresses were built during the Early Iron Age.
