It is situated 180-190 m west of the Agindir Dams, northwest of the Karakaya Village in the Merkez District of Erzincan. The Upper Karaagaç Dam, one of the Karaagaç Dams, which have been supplied by the streams running from the high northern hills between Agindir and Karaagaç Dams so called Ortadere Stream by the local people have been heavily destroyed due to earthquakes and landslides followed by construction of a concrete pool in recent years. The Central Karaagaç Dam which is located 140-150 m south of this dam, has been entirely filled with the soil conveyed by the supplying spring. Yet a little part of the dam's wall can still be traced. The floodgate has been destroyed. The Lower Karaagaç Dam lying to the south of the Middle Karaagaç Dam is smaller and haa been better preserved. Supplied by the Ortadere Stream, it has a roughly "U" shape, with a length of 34 m, and a height of 1-1.5 m. The floodgate of the dam which survived to date is in the southern part. The Karaagaç Dams were built during the 7th century BC.
