It is situated in a steep area at the junction of the Kura Valley and the valley formed by the stream running from the Kalecik Village, 450-500 m south of the village in the Göle District of Ardahan. It is believed that it was built by the Urartians during the 8th century BC, and it bears architectural characteristics of Urartian fortresses. With a suitable location for defence, its southern section was not fortified as it is delimited by a steep rock. |
