Lying 8 km northeast of Eskiyapar the Hisir Village is situated 30 km far from Bogazköy. To the southwest of the village lies the Hisir Mound on the bank of a brook. The mound was an important junction for the road running northeastward. The longer axis mesaures 200 m in lenght, and it is 20 m high. To the northeast it leans upon the rocks. Traces of numerous illicit diggings are observed on the surface as the mound is located almost inside the village. The Early Bronze Age, 2nd Millennium BC, Iron Age and Classical Age sherds were collected from the surface. |
