It rests on a rock to the southwest of the Aktarla Village in the Dogubayazit District of Agri. Lying 4.5-5 km east of the Balikgölü Fortress and the exit of a channel, it is a fortress built for protection of the water. It was built with elaborately dressed andesite stones. The fortification wall survived to the present day. The eastern wall is pierced by a 3 m wide entrance gate. Although remains of some residences are observed on the western skirts of the fortress, majority of them have been heavily destroyed. It is obvious that it served purposes of protection. The ceramic data indicate that the fortress is dated to the 7th century BC.
