It was erected on a steep rock rising immediately above the Güngörmez Village in the Dumlu Subdistrict of Erzurum. Composed of roughly dressed large blocks in cyclopean technique, the fortification walls of the fortress reaching up to 5 m in height have managed to survive to the present day. A source of the Euphrates, Dumlu Suyu is on the upland right above the fortress so that the fortress has a position overlooking its surrounding and the water sources. |
