It lies approximately 50 m southeast of the Tumulus X in the necropolis of Gordion. It was excavated in 1965 by R.S. Young. It is 7.5 m in height, and 60 m in base diameter. A 4x4.5 m pit was dug for the grave chamber. The bottom of the pit was lined with white pebbles. The interior dimensions of the chamber are 2.65x1.4x1.05 m. The southwest wall slided inward due to pressure. The roof of the grave chamber was covered with 8 wooden beams laid between the longer walls of the chamber. The dead was directly buried into the grave. The skeleton was scattered around. The grave finds include 3 fibulae, one imported, grey burnished trefoil jug, a black burnished round-mouthed jug, 2 grey burnished dinoi and grey narrow-necked amphora. The tumulus was dated to the destruction level of Gordion, i.e. 800 BC based on the painted ceramics.
