It lies 170 m west of the Tumulus S-2, 10 m lower than it on an inclining promontory on the South Ridge of Gordion. The pit dug in northwest and southeast directions indicate previous disturbance of the tumulus. The systematic excavation was conducted in 1951 by R.E. Gallagher. It is 1.24 m in height, and 14 m in base diameter. The wooden grave chamber was placed in a pit dug into the hardpan. The dimensions following the destruction are 2.25x2 m. The grave chamber was enclosed by a stone wall. Some of the finds indicate presence of a coffin. The lesser size of the pit and the grave chamber placed into it suggest that it was a child's burial. An amber bead and sherds of a vessel with incised decoration were found inside the chamber. The tumulus is dated to the first half of the 6th century BC.
