It is situated 500 northwest of the Yaylacik Village in the Tercan District of Erzincan. It rests on a rocky hill, which is 1599 m high above the sea level, and no architectural remains are observed on the southern section overlooking the village while there are early period remains on the northern and western sections of the hill. The foundations of the fortifications were carved into the bedrock. The south and north parts of the fortress are steep, and the Yaylacik Stream passes through the northern and eastern parts of the fortress, and then joining with Karasu. To the south runs the Erzurum-Erzincan motorway in east-west direction. The fortress commands the Yaylacik Fortress and the Yaylacik settlement. It is rich in ceramic data, with EBA (Karaz) and Iron Age sherds. |
