It is located 1650 m above the sea level, approximately 500 m southeast of the modern Dogubeyazit-Igdir motorway at the 16th km in the Merkez District of Igdir; resting on a hill where huge range of mountains open into a valley, it has a more sheltered nature with its western section leaning against the mountains. To the west lies the Caf settlement. The western and northern sections of the hill on which the fortress rests are composed of a very steep rock. It allows the fortress to reinforce its strategical position, and control the Dogubeyazit-Igdir road and regional water resources. Although the fortifications have been heavily destroyed, some sections have survived up to 1 m to the present. Built in the east-west directions, the fortifications were erected using the cyclopean technique with an average width of 1.50 cm. Based on the ceramic data, the architecture and topographical characteristics, it seems that it was built during the Iron Age, followed by an intense inhabitance during the Middle Age.
