It leans onto the southern section of an outcrop measuring around 75x30 m, 500 m far from the Çorum Brook in a fertile plain between the junction of Cemilbey and Amasya, 24 km southeast of Çorum. It measures 100x50 m in dimensions. Plenty of illicitly dug pits are observed on the southern and eastern skirts. Sherds collected from the surface are dated to the Early Bronze Age, Hittite Period and Iron Age. The sherd with a ray decoration in matt-painted dark brown on reddish brown slip found in addition to the monochrome sherds dating to the Iron Age is exactly parallel with the painted kraters of the Early Iron Age which were unearthed in the settlements within the bend of Kizilirmak (the Halys) in the Central Anatolia. |
