It lies 7 km north of the Sahinler Village in the Gülsehir District of Nevsehir. Located at Köseoglu Özü Mevkii, which was named after the water spring to the south, the mound is called Gavurhu by the local people. It is referred as Karhöyügü in the 1:25.000 scale map. With an approximate height of 25 m, it measures 175x42 m in the east-west direction, and 155x42 m in the north-south direction. Except the northern section, there is a settlement on the skirt of the mound expanding for approximately 200 m towards the water spring on the south. Destruction pits are observed on the hilltop, and sherds collected from the mound are dated to the EBA, MBA, Iron Age and Hellenistic-Roman Periods. |
