It is situated to the south of the Ceyhan-Toprakkale motorway, 24 km east of Ceyhan, and the provincial center of Adana. It was discovered during the Cilician Survey conducted under the direction of M.V. Seton-Williams in 1951. It appears that it had been inhabited from the Late Chalcolithic Age until the Roman Period, except the EBA.
