It lies to the north of the road leading to Eski Foça, approximately 13 km northwest of the Menemen District, north of Izmir. It was discovered during the expeditions conducted along with the excavations Höyücek by a team under the direction of M. Senyürek in 1949. Majority of the material collected belongs to the Classical Period. Also found are architectural remains from the same period and sherds dating to the Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman, and questionably Byzantine Periods. |
