The mound is located inside the city of Diyarbakir; by the northeastern part; and probably is the earliest settlement of the city. Traces of conflagration; mud-brick debris; and stone walls are seen at the hillside sections. The ceramics; found during the research of Dönmez and Brice in 1947; are of chaff-tempered; with buff-colored paste; buff and black burnished ware (probably dark-faced burnished). All of the finds are of Halaf material. The site dates to the 7th phase in ASPRO. Obsidian blades and open bowls were found. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
