Investigation Method:
Survey
Period:

Location: It is located within the territory of Ankara Province.
Geography and Environment: It is one of the medium sized mounds of Central Anatolia. Plenty of prehistoric sherds was collected from the surface because the mound was partly damaged by the local villagers. It is not possible to propose a stratification since it was not excavated yet. It is cited as Çerkez Höyük in some publications; and Çerkes Höyük in others.
History:
Research and Excavation: It was first introduced by H.H. von der Osten as an EBA settlement.
Stratigraphy:
Small Finds: Pottery: Vast majority of the pottery is of the ware with interiorly and exteriorly red washed surfaces. Among them are sherds of small cups; bowls and high ring handled big cups. A dish-like vessel is claimed to be employed as a stand for jugs. Some sherds belong to the inrolled small jugs. Except this ware; limited number of sherds belonging to interiorly black; red or brown surfaced vessels is found. The black wash of a sherd belonging to a jug with outrolled rim turns to brown through the rim. Forms are comparable with the forms of Ahlatlibel and Karaoglan settlements. An example is a black washed sherd with corrugated decoration. The samples of the coarse ware include vessels with inrolled necks; projected handles and lugs. Sherd of a pan is among the amazing finds.

Interpretation and Dating: The materials collected from Çerkes Höyük are compared with the finds of other settlements in the Central Anatolia region.
