Bozkurt Kurgan Cemetery is situated on the west skirts of Agri Mountain 16 km north of Dogubeyazit District in Agri Province. The cemetery covers an area approximately of 12 square km starting from Bozkurt Village towards north. The sherds collected on cemetery area's surface mostly belong to MBA and LBA/Early Iron Age. But sherds that belong to Late Chalcolithic Age, EBA and Medieval Age were found on Melecami rock, which is north of the village and in the southwest direction of the cemetery. It is assumed that there was a Late Chacolithic Age settlement on the Melecami rock and on its skirts. The Late Chalcolithic Age specimens are more intense on the south side of the Melecami rock. There are two ware groups which consist of the brown-clay organic tempered and the cream slipped organic tempered ware. Besides this large group there is a Sioni Ware jug sherd. That sherd has a basic rim, a straight neck and round body. It is dark grey pasted, and slipped in the same color of its paste, tempered with an average size grit and hand made. The rim contains dentations which is one of the characteristics of theis ware group. The other sherds are usually buff, brown, and clay colored pasted, slipped the same color as its paste or cream slipped, midsize or coarse grit and organic tempered, moderately fired, unburnished and hand-made. These consist of jug forms, they are basic and closed vessels and except for one specimen which has a round body, they have basic rims, necks in addition to round bodies. The necks are straight or everted. The organic temper traces are observed on the surfaces of these sherds [Özfirat 2009:370, 374]. The 2012 excavation were carried out in the trenches of S45, S46 and S47. As it was mentioned in previous years, the settlements belonging to the Late Chalcolithic and EBA periods are located in Melecami Höyük. There are kurgans dated to the MBA and LBA on top of both levels. These kurgans have severely damaged the earlier levels. The excavations yielded potsherds, bone tools, obsidian tool and flakes dated to the Late Chalcolithic-EBA. However, none of these findings were recovered from safe contexts [Özfirat-Coskun 2014:146].
