It is situated to the east of Incirli Village in the District of Hasankeyf in Batman Province. The Sirekanya Stream flows in between the village and this crest within a very deep valley. The caves in this valley particularly inside the village and its west are mostly man-made and they were used during the Roman Period as rock graves. It was discovered during the Palaeolithic Age Survey at Ilisu Dam Lake Area by H. Taskiran and M. Kartal in 2006. The scarce chipped stone specimens were usually found scattered. The number of the chipped stones collected is 9. Out of these specimens, 4 are cores, 1 is a core fragment, 2 are flakes and 1 is a chopping tool. 1 is in square shape, and he square shaped flake retouched on both faces must belong to Post-Palaeolithic periods. The cores are of Levallois Technology. Two of these are disc shaped centrally removed cores. The chopping tool was made of a silex cobble and it is very typical. The assemblage generally belongs to Lower and Middle Palaeolithic Age. Coded T63/9 [Taskiran-Kartal 2008:446]. |
