It is situated on the side of the stream bank in the eastern part of Elazig-Tunceli motorway, 1.5 km east of Ekinözü (Habab) Village of the district of Kovancilar in the province of Elazig. It was found during the Upper Tigris Region Archaeological Survey by E. Danik et al. in 2006. The dimensions of the mound were; 150x130 m in nort-south direction, and the plains at the top measured 110x100 m. The mound height differed betwen 15-35 m. The mound was named "Tump Tepe" among the inhabitants. It is the largest mound found in the region. It is also the second largest after Tilenzit in Elazig region. Among the sherds collected from the mound and environs the EBA of southern origin and Habur painted MBA, as well as local MBA ceramics were observed. The size and finds of the mound suggest that there is a multi-phase dense settlement within the Bronze Age and possibly the presence of other periods which can not be observed due to soil and the vegetation above [Danik 2008:345-346].
