It is located at the center of the Patnos District in Agri. It was discovered by A. Özfirat et al. in 2006 during the Survey in the Provinces of Van, Agri and Igdir. The EBA is represented by the Kura-Aras ware in the area surveyed. Four groups of ware were identified. Black-grey burnished ware, brown-tile red burnished ware, two colored and cream slipped ware. Black-grey and brown-tile red burnished ware are slipped in the color of the paste, coarse or moderate sand tempered, largely poor baked, burnished and handmade. The group classified as the two-colored ware bears similar characteristics, but with such a difference that the black colored vessels have necks and rims in different colors such as tile-red or cream due to firing. The cream slipped ware is rare compared to the others. As a form, jars with vertical rim, long neck or closed rim and rounded body are dominant. The cream slipped ware is very rare compared to the others. Number of decorated fragments is very rich. The decorated pottery of Kura-Aras tradition is well represented almost with a whole repertoir; geometric patterns made by incised stamping and grooves, concentric rings, spirals, perforated or unperforated handles, and Nahcevan lugs are observed. Giriktepe is an intriguing EBA site. The Urartu structure standing on the mound was excavated by K. Balkan (Kod M68/2) [Özfirat 2008:198-199].
