It rests on low lava hills stretching to the Igdir Plain of the Mount Agri in the Karakoyunlu Village of the Karakoyunlu District in Igdir. It was discovered by A. Özfirat et al. in 2006 during the Survey in the Provinces of Van, Agri and Igdir, and it is an intriguing Late Chalcolithic Age site. Based on the sherds collected, it can be considered as a significant center in the Igdir Plain/Aras Valley along with Lanetlitepe. A majority of the sherds from the Late Chalcolithic Age are forms of deep bowls with direct rims, jars with vertical necks and rounded bodies and jars with slightly everted rims and low necks. Cream-slipped, brown-tile red and grey ware are slipped in the same color of their pastes, rough grit- and plant-tempered, and moderately or poorly baked. These handmade sherds have obvious signs of intense plant-temper on their surface. The characteristics of the cream-slipped ware are similar, but they differ from the other groups of ware with their cream slip on a brown-tile red paste. They are comparable with the sherds of Amuq E-F [Özfirat 2008:197-198].
