It lies next to Kusçular Village on the Bafra Plain; west of Samsun Province. It is located almost 4 km southwest of the renown İkiztepe. To the east lies a stream. The site is very close to the Kizilirmak River (The Halys) as well. It was discovered by K. Kökten; N. Özgüç and T. Özgüç during a survey conducted in the Samsun region between 1940 and 1941. It is called Kusçular by C.A. Burney. Sherds of EBA identical to Dündartepe Level II and of Hittite Period were collected from the top hill. It is heavily wooded and brushwooded. The pottery collected from the surface by A. Gökoglu was gathered in four groups as straw-tempered; handmade and coarse ware; grit-tempered; fine handmade; burnished and exteriorly black colored; interiorly grayish colored ware; red ware and wheelmade ware. Further investigation is necessary. The site is also called Silek Tepe; Kusçular or Hoskadem Tepesi. It is listed in the inventory of the registered archaeological sites prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
