The tumulus is reported to have been located to the east of the new road; west of the former road between Karacasu and Yenice at the Çamlibel Mevkii of the Karacasu District of the Aydin Province. The excavations that were carried out in 1968 on behalf of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums were performed by a team of the Aphrodisias excavation group. The tumulus is 5 m high. It has been destructed by illicit diggings. The grave structure under the tumulus was built with limestone blocks; which were bonded by clamps without utilizing mortar. The entrance is from the southwest. The dromos consists of an anterior chamber and an grave chamber. The anterior chamber; which is square in plan; measures 1.2x1.2 m with a height of 2.1 m. The floor is paved two limestone slabs; and the ceiling is made of blue mica stone. The rectangular grave chamber measures 2.6 x 1.86x2.14 m. The floor is paved with calcerous slabs. And the ceiling is covered with slabs of limestone and blue mica stone. The sarchophagus-like burial beds are supported by underlying stone stands. The parapet under the burial bed on the south is reported to have been related with burials. Fragments of bones were found here. Among the finds are a terracotta lamp of pink ware; of which the body is decorated with relief ivy; a single-handed band-adorned jug made of buff ware; which was uncovered from the dromos; and a marble phallos. Based on its architectural features and the finds; the grave was dated to between the 1st century B.C. and the 1st century A.D. [Atasoy 1974:354-356].
