The surveys conducted by Bean and Cook at the Mazi Village; west of the Ören Village of the Milas District of the Mugla Province was followed by the survey by Ruggieri in 1996; which yielded potsherds; dense fragments of altars and fragments of marble blocks from the Hellenistic and Roman Periods [Ruggieri 1998:203-204]. Among the finds are a dedication inscription from the Roman Imperial Period; and an inscription from the Hellenistic Period. It was suggested that this inscription which refers to "Sacred Harbours" belonged to the city located at Gökbel. The investigators believe that there was a place for anchorage at the Asagi Mazi Yalisi; however the original harbour should have been located to a further east at Çökertme (Gulf of Vasiliki) [Bean-Cook 1955:134; 141-142].
