The excavations carried out by Küçükçoban in 2000 at the Börükdüzü Mevkii of the Akdag of the Eskihisar Village; west of the Yatagan Village of the Mugla Province yielded 10 graves. Mostly sarcophaus type of graves; they were used from the 2nd century B.C. to the 1st century A.D. Terracotta and glass unguentariums; silver and bronze coins were recovered from the graves. All; except the one called M-10; are in north-south direction. A coin with the head of Helios on the obverse; and a rose motif with three leaves on the reverse was found in the grave M-10; built in east-west direction. It is indicated that the coin is similar to the coins of Rhodes dating between 304 and 167 B.C. Also found are 6 grave steles depcted with gladiators. As no other finds related with the warriors were recovered from the graves; it is suggested that the steles didn't belong to the above mentioned graves. This suggestion is supported by the fact that the steles are dated to the 3rd century A.D. based on the epigraphical and stylistic features [Küçükçoban 2002:251-256].
