| It is situated in the Karaçali (a.k.a. Tilalo or Tilali) Village, approximately 8 km northeast of Diyarbakır [Benedict 1980:130-131]. It is 30 m high, measuring 275 m long in north-south direction, and 250 m east-west directions. A modern settlement occupies the lower eastern slope. There is a cemetery on the hilltop, and the lower northern slope. 50 m to the north is a fresh water spring. The mound contains simple ware of the first half of the 1st Millennium BC, and a similar group of ware including red washed, burnished and wheelmade ware (particularly known from Nimrut, Kabara level of Tell Halaf, Amuq phase O, Syro-Hittite level at Hama and Palestinian Early Iron Age II) [Çambel-Braidwood 1980:130]. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
