| It lies within the borders of the Ilicalar (Havinga) Village, 12.5 km south of the Silopi District. It was discovered by G. Algaze. Measuring 500x45x4 m in dimensions, to the south of it runs a seasonal brook. The height of the mound has been reduced approximately by 10 m as a result of the destruction by bulldozer, which was used to improve field of vision for the military watch towers in the neighbourhood. Many large pits by treasure hunters can be observed on the mound. Based on the ceramic finds, the main periods identified on the mound are Early Assyrian, Middle Assyrian and Late Assyrian. The Habur pottery represents the most intense group of ware [Kozbe 2006b:298]. |
