| The Assyrian rock reliefs at the Tigris Tunnel were discovered between Adana and Mount Cudi in the mid-19th century. They were first surveyed by two German researchers, W. Belck and C. Lehmann-Haupt. There are three reliefs. One of them belongs to Tiglath-Pileser I (1114-1076 BC) and two others to Shalmaneser III (858-824 BC), one of the Neo-Assyrian kings. One of inscriptions of Shalmanesar III belongs to the early period of his reign, while the other covers information about the 15th year of his reign [Russell 1986:361-363]. |
