It lies 50 m north of the Bismil-Batman motorway, approximately 5 km east of Bismil. 250 m to the north runs a railway. It is 110 m long in the east-west, and 75 m long in the north-south directions. To the immediate south is a spring, which is locally called Sitma Pinar. Wheat fields on the northern and eastern sections of the mound result is destruction due to heavy cultivation. Sherds collected from five separate sections of the settlement revealed presence of handmade straw-tempered ware from the Late Chalcolithic Period, orange ware with dark banded rims from the late 3rd Millennium BC and first quarter of the 2nd Millennium BC, fluted ware from the Early Iron Age and painted Iron Age ware. The mound has been destroyed by the water depot and pipelines installed on it as well as pits opened by treasure hunters.
