The Arslanli Village, 19 km west of the Siverek District in Sanliurfa rests on a mound which has been formed on a natural hill in a plain, 1 km south of the Siverek-Hilvan motorway, mostly to the south of the mound [Kulakoğlu 2000:2-3]. According to the villagers, a statue of a lion was found during a construction on the mound. The survey yielded a work with a lenght of 2 m, a width of 45 m and a preserved height of 90 cm. However, only the part below the knee was extant due to heavy destruction. The villagers claimed that previously similar artifacts were found here. The artifacts uncovered bear Late Assyrian features. While Assyrian influence and artistic features are already known from centers such as Harran, Anaz and Zeynep through written sources and archaeological evidences, it was also identified on the artifacts uncovered from settlements like Aslanli, Asagi Seyek, Gölpinar and Hacigöz during the survey conducted in 1998. The region was under the Late Assyrian influence, particularly with Salmanasar III, and thus the cultural influence of Kargamis had lost its dominance here [Kulakoglu 2000:3].
