It lies 10.5 km north of Harran. With a height of 9 m, only a section about 30-40 m in diameter survived to the present day in the middle of the Akdilek Village. Soil was removed from all sides of the mound, resulting in destruction. Multiple burnt layers are observed from the segments of the excavated parts for the modern settlement. Also called Tel Mihriz, it has been completely obscured by a village settlement, and thus no measurement is available. Following periods were identified: - Early Bronze Age (black-beige brown mottled reserved slip decorated, band decorated metalic fine ware, burnished on inside and outside). - 1st Millennium BC (fine ware with beige paste, body fragments) - Medieval-Islamic Period (plain ware with green beige paste, green glazed ware, body fragments) [Yardimci 2004:405-406]. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
