It is located 500 m northwest of the Yaylacik Village; in the Tercan District in Erzincan Province. It was researched within the scope of "Erzincan; Erzurum; Kars and Igdir Provinces survey" performed by Alpaslan Ceylan et al. in 2005. The fortress that is located on a rocky hill at 1599 m altitude does not contain any architectural remains at its south side facing the village; but there are some early period architectural ruins on the north and west directions of the hill. The fortification foundations were formed by carving them inside the bedrock. The south and northern parts of the fortress are steep. The Yaylacik Stream passes on the eastern side flowing from the north; then connects with Yaylacik Stream. The fortress both overlooks the Yaylacik Fortress and Yaylacik Settlement. It is rich in pottery finds. There are also IA pottery among the EBA (Karaz). The fortress especially has an important role as a new center for the dispersion of the Karaz culture towards the west [Ceylan 2007:164-165]. |
