It is situated in the center of Van Province. It was found and researched during the "Van; Agri; and Igdir Provinces Surveys" by Aynur Özfirat in 2005. Further researches were performed in Kiratli; Baklatepe; Kilisetepe and Sehirtepe along the east and north shores of Erçek Lake in Çavusbasi; and at Çaldiran Fortress in Çaldiran plain. Although the previous researches did not reveal any architectural remains dating to EBA; architectural elements dating to EBA were unearthed during the researches in 2005. Only an EBA settlement took place on that steep hill which has the view of a fortress. It has a rectangular plan; and its walls were built with half-processed large rocks. It measures 76.50x31 m; and the walls are 2.40 m wide. The EBA pottery that was collected at those centers is of Kura-Aras culture which is well known in Eastern Anatolia. It consists roughly of two groups of ware; which are the black burnished or black-grey burnished and the brown - tile-red ware. The black or black-grey burnished ware have different mouth colors and they are of lighter color tones; these are in general in creme; grey; or camel-hair colors and burnished. The other group consists of brown - tile-red paste and burnished; and lightly burnished items. They are hand-made; coarse or grit-tempered; and mostly badly cooked. Both groups consist of jars having generally tall forms; restricted mouths and round bodies; and bowls with inverted mouths [Özfirat 2007:144-145].
