| The conical; 30 m high mound; lies east side of a basalt elevation; east side of Kizilsu Valley; west of Botas; 4.5 km southeast of Kurtkulagi (Kurtkuluk) Village; east of the city of Adana. Its slopes are steep terraced. The site was discovered by M.V. Seton-Williams in 1951 and named as Soyali Höyügü. MBA; LBA; IA; Hellenistic; Roman and Byzantine sherds were collected from the surface. Another survey was conducted by the University of Bilkent in 1991. Potsherds of wiped surfaced; light slipped ware; dating to the Late Chalcolithic Age in Tarsus Gözlükule Höyügü; were found during the survey. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
