It lies southeast of the Gülbahçe Bay; west of Urla; southern part of the Izmir Gulf; west of Izmir Province. Birge Village is located 3 km southwest of Barbaros Village. The mound is shown south of the village in the EBA III map of the Western Anatolia region by D.H. French [French 1968: fig.48b1]. The site discovered by J. Mellaart should be re-investigated. It should have been located near the Izmir-Çesme highway. In the Codex Atlas; it is indicated in the northeast of the village. |
