| The site lies 1.5 km west of the Bugdayli Village; approximately 12 km southwest of the Silopi District of the Sirnak Province. It is located on the eastern bank of the Surik Stream; a branch of the Tigris River. The fertile soil in the area is comprised of alluvial deposits carried by the Tigris. Ýt measures 130 m from east to west and 200m from north to south. Amarsava was discovered by G.Algaze during his 1988-89 surface survey in the Cizre-Silopi Region. The site was revisited by a team conducted by G. Kozbe during their survey in 2004; and sherd slags and grindstones were collected as well as potsherds. The surface finds dated to Halaf; Obaid; Nineve V; Early Assyrian and Hellenistic Period. |
